On June 18, 2015, the Portuguese Society of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Medicine (SPMEC) was founded, being the first in Portugal dedicated to Aesthetic Medicine, by doctors with specialized training. In 2015, it established a Professional Civil Liability Insurance with Tranquilidade and held the 1st National Congress of Aesthetic Medicine, a key event. In 2017, it launched the first National Postgraduate Course in Aesthetic Medicine with the Fernando Pessoa University and formed partnerships with international societies. Since 2018, the president of SPMEC, Dr. Marco Guerra Rocha, has been an expert at ERS. In 2019, the first Postgraduate Diplomas were awarded. SPMEC remains committed to the regulation and recognition of Aesthetic Medicine in Portugal.
